Whole floor Downtown Los Angeles loft
Entire seventh floor – unique live-work loft experience in LA
An iconic historical monument with private elevator
The Seventh Floor sits high above the 8-story Tomahawk Building – in short, the quintessential Downtown Los Angeles Loft. Additionally, The Tomahawk is listed as an Historic Cultural Monument by the City of Los Angeles, after all, it was built in 1914.
Further, the building rests at the border of the Old Bank District to the north and the Fashion District to the south, while occupying a tiny wedge-shaped block once known as Flat-Iron Park.
Lastly, the Tomahawk Building sits squarely in The Broadway Theater District and LA’s Historic Core; not only hosting the world’s largest concentration of old movie palaces, but also many of LA’s early flagship department stores and office towers during its time – all built chiefly between 1907 and 1931. In sum, this property is uniquely unlike any other downtown Los Angeles Loft apartment for rent.

An Historic Downtown LA Loft Building
The Tomahawk Building is an Historic Cultural Monument of the City of Los Angeles, being that it was built in 1914.
The Tomahawk is located at the border of the Old Bank District to the north but is also part of the Fashion District to the south. Moreover, the building occupies a small, wedge-shaped (flat iron) block between 8th and 9th where Spring and Main converge within an area known as the Historic Core.
In fact, the construction of the Tomahawk Building extended the Financial Core of Pre-World War II Los Angeles southward along Spring Street, by and large, making the Tomahawk the only Downtown Los Angeles loft apartment of its kind.
A Fly-by Loft Tour through downtown LA
Balanced against the stunning DTLA skyline, the Tomahawk Building, and similarly, Seventh Floor, look quite small. But look closer as you ride the elevator to emerge into the entryway of your spacious new home. The elevator is secured by each resident using their own private key to reach only their floor.
You Determine the Layout of your Downtown Los Angeles Loft Apartment
Straightaway, take note of the spacious living room, large enough to command a Yamaha C3 grand piano; but equally suited for as dining area. The opposite side of the expansive living room, concurrently doubling as a home office; could also be used as a master – or second bedroom. But to put it another way – look at those views as you fly through the east-to-west windows of the Seventh Floor Downtown Los Angeles loft.

Modern and quality appliances throughout your Downtown Los Angeles Loft
Importantly, the Tomahawk Building was not only renovated with all new plumbing and wiring in 2004, but also received completely updated safety systems during the rehab. Therefore, the Tomahawk meets both modern building and seismic standards. Further, this huge creative loft space has Bulthaup cabinets and island with an American-Walnut snack bar, Miele oven, stovetop and dishwasher and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. In addition, the central HVAC system is a Diakin Fit variable-speed inverter, which is not only quiet, but also efficient; chiefly, maintaining a constant temperature throughout this stunning Downtown Los Angeles Loft.
In summary, the Tomahawk was one of the first modern buildings to be built in Flatiron Park during its time. Accordingly, it’s construction ushered in a building boom in the surrounding area that lasted through the 1920s and to that end, making Flatiron Park largely what it is today. Given these points, the Seventh Floor is markedly unique in the downtown Los Angeles loft apartment space.
