The Tomahawks Building’s footprint is altogether too small for its own underground parking. Regardless, there are plenty of parking lots throughout the Fashion District specifically catering to Downtown Los Angeles lofts for rent. Joe’s Parking garage at 808 S Olive St is located at the Ace Hotel only a couple blocks away and offers comparatively low monthly rates. Certainly, there couldn’t be much to see at this garage. Surprisingly, when you’re driving down to exit, the garage has a stunning circular ramp that is painted orange.
Built in 1914 – the entire building boasts a footprint the size of your seventh-floor home. Then again, local shops, yoga studios, and gyms, make up for the not having a concierge, door person, or media center in the building. Broadway cafes, wholesale merchants and high-end shops are just a few steps away from most of many Downtown Los Angeles Lofts. In a word – convenient!
Stretching for six blocks from 3rd to 9th Streets along South Broadway, the Historic Broadway Theatre District has theatres built between 1910 and 1931. Surprisingly, this is the only large concentration of movie palaces left in the United States. Most important, just blocks from Spring Street’s row of Downtown Los Angeles Lofts. Accordingly, you’re a twenty-minute walk from the LA MOCA and the Broad Museum as well as the Music Center and Disney Hall. In other words – there’s always plenty to do, and see, in this urban “walking city”!
Above all – you have a combination washer/dryer in the unit. The Tomahawk is centrally located to services. That is to say, you can do almost anything within a 5-block radius of The Tomahawk Building Downtown LA Lofts. Additionally , there are several local dry cleaners within a ten-minute walk. Don’t forget, you’ll be living in the Fashion District, which is unquestionably LA’s largest concentration of designers, tailors, and supplies in the city.
Indeed, the Tomahawk Building is LA’s smallest high-rise with only 8 homes stacked above inline. And moreover, you’ll want to show your Downtown LA Loft to your family, friends and coworkers. We are respectful of our neighbors at the Tomahawk; but all homes in the Tomahawk are great for entertaining, with (of course) the same courtesies you would extend to any neighbor. To that end, we are a vibrant small community nestled in a bustling city and we enjoy a casual get-together.

Historic Broadway is just one block to the west of most of Downtown Los Angeles’ Lofts on Spring. Not to mention, you’ll be able to see the Apple Store’s clocktower from the historic Tower Theater from the expansive windows at the foot of your western views in the Tomahawk. Conversely, find other shops like Paul Smith, A.P.C. Clothing, Gentle Monster, Acne Studios and the MYKITA Shop. Even more – it’s all just steps from the front door of your new home.
The Seventh Floor has a state-of-the-art entry system by ButterflyMX. Another key point for security, the intercom provides each resident private video and snapshot of only their visitors. This feature added specifically with attention to provide privacy from neighbors’ eves-dropping. You’ll see the ButterflyMX system used at many Downtown Los Angeles Lofts.
The Tomahawk also has a video camera located in the lobby for additional assurance, passively recording 3 days of footage. With that – it’s important to listen to our inner subconscious and intuitive radar in any major city. This ain’t no disco – it ain’t no country club either. This is LA!
One elevator serves all 8 floors; but each resident can only access their private floor with their own key. Buttons don’t work in the private elevator opening to personal floor of this building. By comparison, this alone, sets the Tomahawk apart from other Downtown Los Angeles Lofts for rent.
When the elevator opens directly into your new Seventh Floor home, without doubt; you’ll feel assured that security is top priority here. All in all, the HOA at the Tomahawk strives to emphasize privacy and safety.
Accordingly, like any metropolitan environment, certain city sounds will become your urban lullaby, once you’ve settled in to the Seventh Floor. However, this flatiron block located at the end of South Spring St does quiet down in the wee hours. And regardless; with central HVAC you can keep your windows closed (or not) in your new live-work Loft.
Although the Tomahawk was originally built in 1914, the building was completely updated to modern standards in 2003-2004. In short, all new systems were a requisite part of this transformation. Equally important, when the Tomahawk was converted to Live/Work by David L. Gray Architects, the design was tailored to the conveniences of living enjoyed by the inhabitants of all of the city’s Downtown LA Lofts.
Hence, as one of LA’s smallest high-rise communities, the building is maintained to the same exacting standards as a 20-story, 400+ unit complex. Moreover, the Tomahawk is inspected semiannually.
As a matter of fact, the building circulates hot water, so your tap returns hot immediately – even as high as the Seventh Floor
The Seventh Floor Loft is offered unfurnished. In other words, we’ll have it painted with the black-concrete floor polished for you. In essence, the rest is your canvas to accentuate your own personal style. For the purpose of hanging artwork, we provide anchors in the concrete walls for heavy pieces throughout the unit. Accordingly these anchors can be retained or patched over before move-in.
